"Illicit" by Opal Carew is the sizzling erotic romance that centers around Lindsay Reed who gets a mysterious invitation that somehow reflects a fantasy come true. A hedonistic weekend with three amazingly sensual men who are themselves in a committed relationship does wonders to restore Lindsay's self-confidence in herself as a woman. Unfortunately, one of the trio, policeman Erik Hamilton, fears the effects of permanently introducing a woman into the stable situation that he currently has and he has a secret that he fears to share. Both Lindsay and Erik must continue to work through their insecurities if they are going to continue to share the incandescent loving that the quartet has found so delightful.

This is a very sensual contemporary romance that celebrates a menage a quatre (foursome) that forms between three men and the woman who just happens to take an elevator ride with them. It was somewhat disconcerting to watch Lindsay access her inner sex goddess so abruptly but she most assuredly has plenty of encouragement and inspiration in the three hunky males that definitely enjoy each other's bodies and are willing to add her to their circle. The sizzling fantasies that are exchanged between the four of them include voyeurism, role-playing, mild bondage and a bit of public naughtiness. I wasn't terribly enamored of Erik's handling of his issues but fortunately his lovers find a way to resolve things without too much continued angst. There are mild paranormal elements and an overall theme of fantasy in this very hot read which should help chase away those cold winter blues.
